Short summary

Migration from NPC AI Engine 4.4.1 to the new Convai SDK for Unity 4.5

What happened?

Hi Convai team,

I’m currently using NPC AI Engine - Dialog, actions, voice and lipsync - Convai version 4.4.1 in my Unity project.

I noticed that the new Convai SDK for Unity has been released, and I would like to try the new version because I’m currently experiencing some issues with lip sync in my project.

However, I cannot find version 4.5 in Unity’s Package Manager. The latest version I can see there is 4.4.1, which is the version I’m currently using.

I also tried installing the new package by name:

com.convai.convai-sdk-for-unity

but it did appear to be downloaded as a new Convai SDK for Unity package.

So my main question is:

What is the correct way to migrate an existing Unity project from NPC AI Engine - Dialog, actions, voice and lipsync - Convai 4.4.1 to the new Convai SDK for Unity?

Specifically, should I:

Remove/uninstall the old NPC AI Engine - Dialog, actions, voice and lipsync - Convai 4.4.1 from my existing project?
Then install/import the new Convai SDK for Unity 4.5?
Or is there a recommended migration/update procedure that I should follow?
I’m concerned about breaking my existing project, since I already have Convai characters, components, scenes, scripts, and configurations set up.

I would really appreciate some guidance on the safest way to migrate to the new SDK while keeping my existing project and Convai setup working correctly.

Thank you!

Could you please confirm which Unity version you are using?

Are you sure your project is using Unity 6000.4.10f1?

Yes the project version is 6000.4.10f1

Does the same issue happen in a new Unity project as well?

The Package Manager update flow is managed by the Unity Asset Store, so this may be related to Unity’s Package Manager.

I checked on my side, and V4.5.0 appears correctly and can be updated without any issue.

Could you please try again in a clean project and let us know whether V4.5.0 is visible there?

I have just created a new project but i still cant see the V4.5.0

Hi @K3

I couldn’t manage to do it. Is there anything else I can try? Any ideas?

Please use the UPM version for now. We haven’t been able to reproduce this issue on our side, and the Package Manager itself is managed by Unity, so we don’t have direct control over it.

Ok thank you!!

We’ve released a new update. Once it’s available, this issue should be resolved.
