# Speaks his actions out loud before answering my question

From what we can see, the behavior is being caused by the character prompt. The prompt appears to be guiding the model toward roleplay-style responses, which is why it is verbalizing actions before giving the actual answer.

We recommend revising the prompt so that it explicitly avoids narration and instructs the character to respond only in direct dialogue. For example:

> “Do not narrate physical actions, gestures, facial expressions, or stage directions. Do not use asterisks for roleplay actions. Respond only with direct spoken dialogue while staying in character.”
