One of our metahumans running Convai through Unreal Engine and using ‘Arabella Female Multilingual Voice’ keeps changing language and accent mid conversation. She’ll start in English, with an English accent and then midway through the conversation, take on a thick Spanish accent, and occasionally switches languages (eg will count “one, two, tres”). We’ve only selected English as a language and she’s been running for four months and has never encountered this issue before. Any ideas other than changing the voice?
Hello @Pablo_Lucio,
Welcome to the Convai Developer Forum!
Could you please share a video demonstrating the issue and the character ID? That will help us investigate the problem more effectively.

Hi - any update? This is being used in a live museum exhibition so we’d like to get this fixed asap as they’ve had to close the exhibit in the meantime.
Thanks for the follow-up, and we truly understand the urgency given the exhibit setting.
A ticket has already been created and is under review by our team. While we investigate, we recommend testing with alternative voices, as this may be related to the voice provider itself. We’ll get back to you with an update as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Hi - any update? This exhibit has been down for three weeks now. Multiple voices have been tested with no success on fixing this.
I’ve had the same experience. I believe you might mitigate the issue by editing the backstory for the character to remove any reference to nationality? I can’t say this will work for sure but when I described a character as ‘a French girl living in…’ she would often interject French (improperly) into a conversation in English. Some issues generally can be fixed by simply specifying things in the backstory. Some characters seem to drop the ‘g’ from words like ‘walking’ or ‘looking’ and I just added ‘She speaks like a well educated young woman’ and the speaking was much better.
Good luck!
Hello @Pablo_Lucio,
Just to keep you updated. We’re still actively investigating the issue. As soon as we have a resolution, we’ll let you know right away. Thank you for your continued patience!
@Pablo_Lucio Could you please try again?
