Convai plugin failed to load because ConvaiVisionBase could not be loaded – project suddenly stopped opening
Hi Convai team,
I’m having a serious issue with my Unreal Engine project. Everything was working correctly, but now I can no longer open my projects because I get the following error:
“Plugin ‘Convai’ failed to load because module ‘ConvaiVisionBase’ could not be loaded.”
I would really appreciate your help, because I’m not sure what caused this problem.
What happened
I originally had an issue with my project after transferring it to a new computer. The new computer was using a newer Convai version (Convai 4.0), and my project was originally created with an older Convai version.
I previously asked about this issue in this thread:
Following the recommendation from that thread, I tried installing the older Convai version inside the project’s Plugins folder. Unfortunately, that did not solve the problem.
Because of this, I decided to set up my MetaHuman again from scratch using Convai 4.0.
Surprisingly, after doing that, everything started working correctly.
Even though there was apparently still an older Convai version somewhere in the project, I was able to open and close the project multiple times without any problems. The MetaHuman and Convai were working correctly.
The problem appeared two days later …
What did you expect?
The problem appeared two days later
After leaving the project for about two days, I tried to open it again, and suddenly I received:
“Plugin ‘Convai’ failed to load because module ‘ConvaiVisionBase’ could not be loaded.”
I can no longer open the project.
What is even more strange is that I have another Unreal project, which was created from the beginning with Convai 4.0 and a MetaHuman.
That project is now showing exactly the same error as well.
So it seems that this is not only related to the old Convai version that was present in my first project.
I also tested a completely new project
I wanted to check whether the problem was specific to my projects, so I created a completely new Unreal Engine project using the same Unreal Engine version (5.3.2).
The new project opened normally
