Thats not a reassuring answer for a developer.
Arbitrary backend server updates carry a high risk of breaking a live game or app. This could be mitigated by having a backend versioning system that users can select and test latest versions themselves before going live. For instance choose a stable server version and forgoing new features while only updating occasionally for major version updates.

This was not an update. It was an unexpected bug. We quickly fixed the problem immediately.
As for the update, we release it after doing the necessary tests and checks. Do not worry about this.
