I’m experiencing an issue with high response latency when using Convai in Unreal Engine 5, currently on the Indie plan.

Here’s the situation:

  • I have one project developed by another person where the character replies with around a 1-second delay.
  • In the project I’m building step-by-step, the response delay doesn’t go below 4 seconds, even under similar conditions.
  • When I enable Narrative Design, the delay jumps to around 10 seconds.

I’d appreciate any insights on the following:

  1. Are there specific settings or configurations that might be affecting latency this drastically?
  2. Do different subscription plans (Indie, Pro, Enterprise) have different response speeds or processing priorities?
  3. Are there any recommended optimizations when integrating Convai with UE5 to minimize response delay?

I tested your character and it appears to be working as expected. A 1-second response time isn’t realistically achievable at this point, average response times typically range between 3 to 4 seconds, which is considered normal.

There is currently no difference in response speed or processing priority between plans (Indie, Pro, Business). However, we are working on a major update aimed at significantly reducing response latency. Early access to this update will be available through our Enterprise plan.
