Inconsistent response times

Sometimes it takes 30 seconds to respond to a question, the next time it takes 5 seconds. What’s going on?

Hello @Tanguy_Dewavrin,

Could you please share the Character ID and Session ID?

Hello, as I emailed Jeff yesterday it’s happening more in our client’s website than in the Convai playground (i.e. Convai Dashboard) so we think it’s something to do with the web SDK. For instance you can look at this character ID: 1d2723ac-5cca-11f0-8132-42010a7be01f. If you talk to it in the playground it will respond faster, but if you talk to it in our website it take 30 seconds to respond: test-CMA-28-07-2025 — StarPAL Next Gen AI assistants. If you don’t know what to say to test it (it’s in French) just say “Je veux etre boulanger” for instance). The Willemse one was very slow yesterday as well: 9d8f0396-fefe-11ee-8887-42010a7be00e. Which is worrying as it’s live commercial website. The website for Willemse is Conseil Jardinage, you can click on the avatar thumbnail to chat with him. The response time is faster today.

The Playground also uses the WebSDK, so the behavior should generally be consistent. We’ll investigate this further and get back to you. In the meantime, could you please share the Session ID from one of these slower interactions? That would allow us to examine the specific session details and better understand what might be causing the delay.

Can you try this session ID please: u78a24b8c-0341-4ebd-bdbe-5d4fab7b2127, I simply asked “hello how are you?” and it took nearly a minute to respond.

FYI we don’t generally use session IDs as every session is unique, so we just use -1 normally.

-1 means the session ID that is automatically generated when you start the chat.

In that case the session ID is -1

It is fast today, did you fix something?

@Tanguy_Dewavrin, are you still experiencing issues?

No, as we told Jeff yesterday itfixed itself the next day. The problem is that it happened to live customers so IDK how we can avoit it happening again in the future, it’s really bad for our reputation ad you can imagine.

Tanguy Dewavrin

We understand how disruptive this is and the impact on your reputation. We’ve tested the character on our side and couldn’t reproduce the issue. Does it only occur for your customers, or can you reproduce it internally as well?
