No audio data received on convai website

Hi,
I’m trying to design my narrative design,
I test it from the convai website,
At least once every other conversation I get this error

This always happens in the following way:

  • I start the conversation
  • There are some exchanges,
  • During transcription of one of my answers (microphone button pressed once and pulsating) the transcription stops midway
  • When I press again the microphone button to stop the transcription, the error message appears.

Hello @donq,

Welcome to the Convai Developer Forum!

As the error suggests, please check your browser’s microphone settings. Make sure you’ve selected the correct microphone device and that microphone access is allowed for the site.

Hi @K3,
Along the conversation, the microphone works for a bit until it stops working, so it can’t be a permission or device problem.

Could you please test your microphone?

Yes,
I got:
testing was completed successfully and it seems your microphone works properly.

The microphone works in other apps too

In order to investigate the problem in more detail, could you please share a video recording that shows the problem, including your voice and browser logs, you can upload it to Google Drive or Youtube as unlisted, you can share it as a private message or here.

here’s a video of the error message being displayed.

Grazie @donq!

Any news on this? Was it a random occurrence? Do you have insights on why this happen? Is it a network problem or a backend problem? Should we expect cases in which the rate of failure is much higher than normal? Are there specific factors that increase the occurrence of these failures? Is there a way to monitor your service health and responsiveness?

We are building an application relying on convai as a third party service, we need to know how to handle this kind of scenario. The more information we have the better.

Ticket has been created and our team will review it as soon as possible. My guess is that it might be because the input was too long. However, it would not be right to say anything right now. And on which platform will you develop your application? Engine side? And does this problem also occur in Video Call?

Our platform is windows + ue5.4 + metahuman.
The problem has occurred frequently in video calls (pixelstreaming from convai website) and on our ue project (both during development and in pixelstreaming)

@donq could you please share the Unreal Engine logs when this issue occurs?

I’m now working on a different part of this project, as soon as I’ll have time I’ll make some tests and get back to you.
