STT showing "lore lore lory lore lore" instead of audio from mic

one of our characters in unreal w convai has suddenly started only hearing “lore lore lore lory lore lore lore” etc - nothing has changed on our end. We tried different microphones, we’ve tried recording and the microphones we are using (same as usual) are all recording just fine on the machine. Any fixes?

Could you please test on playground? Does it work?

I just tried it, and in the playground it did exactly the same thing as per the image below. I activated the microphone, and this appeared - this is the legacy playground version

was there any resolution to this? we are having some problems and I was hoping to gleam some info here

Hi Maris,

The issue might be that STT is prioritizing Chinese transcriptions. To help us better understand this while we work on a fix, could you try the following steps:

  1. Select voice: English
  2. Click Update Character
  3. Then add the remaining voices: Spanish, Chinese (Mainland)
  4. Click Update Character again

After that, please check if the issue still persists.

I will try - but it comes back in both English and Chinese, and even with just clicking the mic button we have this problem both using the unreal complete setup and the convai sandbox running on different machines - it seems to be the STT

Maris, Something we just did that helped us:

  1. Went to the playground and went back to legacy. changed the description to fit the 1000 word limit.
  2. used the suggestion of removing the languages.

Large improvement. audio returned to standard without glitching.

It looks like that cured the problem - the only problem now is that one of the Elevenlabs voices changed from a solid old man’s male voice that resonated to a squeaky male voice that nobody likes - but I’ve picked another voice in the hope that voices will remain stable from here on in, and that should work. The only thing remaining is that he is not responding in the language that you speak to him in, which was perfect before - but I changed the model from 4o to 5beta - we’ll play with that.
