I’m facing a noticeable delay in my AI character’s replies during live conversations in Unity.
The character (Tara – AI Host) takes several seconds to respond after user input, which affects the real-time interaction flow.
Here are my current setup details:
Platform: Unity
Integration: Convai SDK (Voice-based)
Connection: Stable Wi-Fi
Model used: Default voice model
Issue: 5–7 seconds delay before responses start
I’ve optimized the responses to be short and reduced knowledge base chunk size, but the delay persists.
Could you please guide me on how to reduce latency or if there are recommended settings for faster responses in Unity?
Here are the details you requested regarding the delay issue:
• Character ID: 853d6e82-ba31-11f0-acbf-42010a7be025
• Speaker ID: 3633fc96-ba33-11f0-936f-42010a7be025
• Session IDs:
– c0e84da1620783d0441e4c00c00e0db8
– b500b946e12ff4b8d0795fb529d485dc
• Approximate response delay: Around 5–7 seconds before the AI starts replying.
• Platform: Unity (Convai SDK voice integration)
• Internet: Stable Wi-Fi connection.
• Observation: The delay happens consistently across multiple sessions, even after reducing the response length and splitting the knowledge base.
Could you please check if the latency is caused by model or streaming settings, and suggest any optimizations for faster response in Unity?
Could you please test this on convai.com? Click on your character, use the chat box on the right to interact, and also test it in video call. Then share the response times you observe.
