Adjust the character position and that’s it.
Well that’s not quiet as simple as one would think the NPC has 2 area the NPC itself and the Armature when I move the Armature from the rest of it I am able to set the correct height although I don’t know how to fix this swaying about
It seems like there might be a bit of confusion regarding object hierarchy in Unity. To adjust the position properly, you should move the top-level parent object, not just the Armature or the Collider. Moving individual objects/components like the Armature can cause unwanted behavior such as the swaying effect you mentioned.
If you’re new to Unity, I’d recommend checking out some beginner-friendly tutorials online to get more familiar with how object parenting and transforms work. They can be a huge help!
OK I am fine with admiting my short comings what would you suggest there is too much information out there and not all of it is correct, I would appreciate some suggestions on how to better my understanding
To improve your Unity skills, I highly recommend exploring Unity’s official learning resources. The Unity Essentials and Junior Programmer pathways are excellent starting points:
Regarding your current issue, it seems the problem lies in how you’re adjusting the object’s position. I recommend removing the current character prefab from your scene and dragging a fresh one from the Convai directory (likely found in Assets/Convai/Demo/Characters…) into your scene. Once added, adjust only the main character GameObject (highlighted in blue) not its child components like the Armature or Collider.
Please note that this is not a Convai-specific issue but rather related to Unity fundamentals. We hope this helps, and we encourage you to explore the Unity learning pathways for deeper understanding.
Thank You, I will do some research and Let you know how it goes, I appreciate your time and effort
Thanks You,
Cornelius
You are welcome!
Hello Kaan,
I hope this message finds you well. I noticed that there has been an issue with interacting with characters in your project, since the transition away from Ready Player Me. Given that Convai was marketed as a complete solution, I understand the frustration that comes with this limitation.
Could you please provide some recommendations for an alternative solution that we can use to import characters into our project? Your guidance would be invaluable in helping us find a suitable replacement so that we can continue development without further interruptions.
Looking forward to your prompt response and thank you for your assistance.
Best regards,
Dr. Cornelius Bennett
