Short summary

Can custom 3D models, I mainly use Reallusion CC, in Unity be uploaded to Avatar Studio to be used in a browser based app?

What happened?

I seen this video https://www.youtube.com/shorts/avxau8XYOxM and it mentions/shows using custom 3D models in Avatar Studio for web based apps based on Convai, it looked very simple to create a web/browser based app, just literally selecting “Web” in Unity Build Profile, I am wondering if there’s more to it as I can only find a mention of Unreal being able to upload custom 3D models, from a specific set of avatar types, to Avatar Studio?

What did you expect?

To find Unity documentation on it.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Watch the video
  2. Get excited
  3. Trying to find the Unity docs for uploading a custom 3D model to Avatar Studio
(I’m not great with documentation though so it’s entirely possible I just couldn’t find it)

I checked the relevant documentation, resources, and similar forum posts before posting.

Hi Tyke,

That video shows how to prepare and build an existing Unity Web project for use with Convai.

From your question, it sounds like you are referring more specifically to Avatar Studio rather than Unity Web builds. Avatar Studio runs on Unreal Engine, so the current Asset Uploader workflow is Unreal based. If you are not familiar with Unreal Engine, this may be a more difficult process. Also, please note that the Asset Uploader is currently in beta.

My recommendation would be to either use Avatar Studio directly and embed the experience on your website, or add your characters to your existing Unity project and build that project for the web platform.

I would not recommend using the old Unity plugin for this workflow.
