I am trying to make my metahuman speak Albanian, but it does not understand anything from audio. It can speak fluently, also understands when written to, but not when spoken to.

Hey @stives_balla, could you let me know the character id? What are your language settings? Could you try setting the language to only Albanian and try out on playground?

This is the character id. I’ve tried in different setups and different voices. It understands only if i speak really slow or only few words. I’ve also tried on the playground
For the moment it is setup:
Languages: Albanian
Voice: Ada Female Multilingual
The goal would be to make the character speak only English and Albanian, just these two. Maybe i have the setup wrong?
Could you please share a screen recording of the issue? While recording, make sure that both the video and the character interaction are using the same microphone device. This will help us determine if the problem is related to the input audio.
Hi @K3 , sorry for the late response. This is a recording from the convai site, it has the exact same issue in the metahuman avatar, it does not understand any of the questions.
In the recording I’m using:
Language: Only Albanian
Voice: Ava Female Multilingual Voice
Could you please test it on PC? And we need a video from the device.

We are unable to reproduce this issue on our side. Everything is working as expected. Please double check your microphone device and ensure it’s properly configured. We’ve tested this on convai.com, Unity, and Unreal Engine without encountering the problem.
Hi @K3 , another question regarding the topic.
From what i’m searching, the problem maybe consists on the automatic speech recognition, that does not support Albanian. Is there any way to use an external API(Soniox of Elevenlabs API) for the ASR or STT?
Or, in the core api settings with a pro account, is there any feature that lets me change STT API?
We are trying to create an ai assistant avatar for the public, and Albanian language is crucial for this, so any help is appreciated.

As mentioned, when we tested STT with the Albanian language, we did not encounter any issues. It is not possible to directly connect other STT services to Convai. However, you could implement your own custom setup on the client side to connect to an external STT service, then send the resulting text as a text request to Convai. Please note that such customizations fall outside our support scope.
