Hello!
I would like to ask about the official permission regarding the usage of the Unity Convai sample avatar “Amelia”.
I am currently working on a research project that will be submitted to the ACM CHI (Computer-Human-Interaction) conference, and in my paper I must use Convai as a core platform. In this context, I would like to officially obtain permission from Convai to use the sample avatar “Amelia” in academic publications and research outputs.
More specifically, I would like to confirm if the following uses are permitted:
-
Using “Amelia” in figures and screenshots that will appear directly in the CHI paper
-
Using “Amelia” in a demo video that will be included as supplementary material for the CHI submission
-
Using “Amelia” without purchasing additional licensing, strictly for academic (non-commercial) research purposes
If permission is granted, please let me know if there is a required attribution or copyright credit line that I should include in the paper. If so, please provide the correct wording so we can cite it properly.
Short description on how Convai is used in our research:
-
We are building an interactive VR environment using Unity XR
-
Convai is used as the main dialogue + language understanding module
-
The avatar “Amelia” is used as the embodied conversational agent within the VR space
-
Motion tokens and dialogue events are triggered based on user actions and context
-
All conversations are handled through Convai’s API and character LLM backend
I want to make sure that we fully respect Convai’s asset usage and licensing policy for academic publication, and therefore I would like to request your official approval for this research usage.
Thank you very much!
