Issue with Romanian year pronunciation using “Rafael” voice (ElevenLabs)

Hi everyone,

I’ve encountered an issue with how years are pronounced in Romanian when using the male voice “Rafael” from ElevenLabs, integrated in ConvAI. Although the voice performs well overall and recognizes Romanian text, it mispronounces years written in numeric form. For example, “1995” is pronunced incorrectly
I tested one of the native Romanian voices available in ConvAI (“Romanian (Romania) FEMALE Voice 2”), and it correctly pronounces years. However, I’d prefer to use a male voice for my project.

My questions are:

  1. Is there a built-in way in ConvAI to enforce correct year pronunciation in Romanian?
  2. Do you have any recommended workarounds?

Thanks a lot!
Florin

Hello @theportal102,

Thanks for sharing the details.

Could you try adding a pronunciation guideline directly in the Character Description? For instance, you might instruct the system to read years like “1995” as “one thousand nine hundred ninety-five” or write a specific note about how to pronounce dates in Romanian numerals.

Thanks a lot, that worked perfectly! Adding the pronunciation rule in the Character Description did the trick. Much appreciated!
